The Lawrence Motet Singers were o riginally organized in 1975 under the direction of Mr. David Grisafe, a lifelong Lawrencian and choir director.
During David's tenure, the choir enjoyed a reputation as the area's finest invitation-only small choir, singing regular concerts in the Lawrence-Kansas City-Topeka areas, and even representing the State of Kansas in a concert at the National Cathedral in Washington.
When Mr. Grisafe passed away in January, 2009 the choir spent a season off to mourn David's passing and "regroup."
Today . . . Many current members of the choir also sang in the choir under Mr. Grisafe's direction and remember him fondly as a fellow musician and friend .
His efforts not only created the choir, but also cultivated it from a practicing choir into a well-known and respected performance group.
